SAMSUNG JUST GOT SIRI-OUS!

Siri, Assistant, Alexa and now we have BIXBY! Samsung has officially unveiled that they have a virtual assistant called BIXBY.

Artificial intelligence now does exist in Samsung, it was just a matter of time. This new virtual assistant is said to be launched with the GALAXY S8 on March 29th. It’s been rumored that it will be quite different from Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant.

Bixby will have a different concept, this new voice-based interface will be meant to control apps as per the user commands. It will be able to control almost everything you could do in an app with a touchscreen and will also be context aware, which means that a user can activate Bixby within a application and have it “understand the current context and state of the application and will allow users to carry out the current work-in-progress continuously.”

Samsung isn’t being very specific on how this app will work, Samsung also says that Bixby is different from the other assistants as it is “completeness” of a virtual assistant, claiming that Bixby can understand incomplete commands unlike other assistants, pointing out to Siri and Google’s Assistant.

To make it easier to adjust to using Bixby, Samsung has included a dedicated button on the side of the phone just to access the assistant.

Here’s what the company had to say about the forthcoming release of Bixby:

We do have a bold vision of revolutionizing the human-to-machine interface, but that vision won’t be realized overnight. Ambition takes time.

Bixby will be our first step on a journey to completely open up new ways of interacting with your phone.

Obviously, there is still a lot to Bixby that we don’t know about, but we will find out a lot more next week at the Galaxy S8 launch. Over time, Samsung also intends to expand Bixby to other platforms, including its home appliances. STAY TUNED for more UPDATES!!
